AMD Ryzen 5 3600X

AMD Ryzen 5 3600X Review

In this article, I will brief you the complete AMD Ryzen 5 3600X Review by using different attributes and key point. AMD’s new $200 6-core, 12-thread processor, the Ryzen 5 3600, is the replacement for our top best value CPU. The chip has a 65-watt TDP, a 32MB L3 cache, and oscillates between 3.6 and 4.2 GHz. The Wraith Stealth cooler is included, and the MSRP is the same as the R5 2600’s launch price.

The Intel Core i5-9600, which is priced at $213, should be a direct rival to the R5 3600. However, we don’t currently have that component in stock, and it doesn’t seem to be on sale either, so the more costly 9600K will have to do. Although it is not exactly what we were looking for and costs $255, it will be fascinating nevertheless.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600X Review

We utilized the MSI X570 Creation, set up with DDR4-3200 CL14 memory and the stock cooling, to test the new Ryzen CPU. The identical RAM modules and the 8th and 9th generation Intel Core CPUs were tested on the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra with the Corsair H115i RGB Platinum AIO liquid cooling.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600X Price and availability:

If you don’t manage to catch the Ryzen 5 3600 with any CPU offers, it will cost you $199 (£199, AU$315) with the bundled Wraith Stealth cooling. But even so, it is one of the most affordable new mid-range CPUs available. It has the same feature set as the 3600X but is much less expensive.

The Ryzen 5 3600 from AMD succeeds the Ryzen 5 2600 from 2018 and offers the mid-range CPU market even more performance and choices. It is just below the Ryzen 5 3600X, which is effectively the same CPU with a little greater clock speed.

The desktop for thrifty gamers is where the Ryzen 5 3600 excels. Although it often performs worse than its speedier brothers, its lesser specifications and cheaper pricing don’t immediately translate into better gaming performance.

Additionally, the additional savings may just as well be used to purchase a better graphics card or more RAM, making the Ryzen 5 3600 an especially alluring choice for gamers who want to maximize their investment.

The Ryzen 5 3600 retains a lower price versus all but the cheapest SKUs of Intel’s Core i5 Coffee Lake Refresh CPUs. Additionally, it enables greater base clock rates with simultaneous multithreading, which Core i5 desktop processors can’t handle (the Core i5-9600k is the exception).

Features and chipset:

While the upgrade from the Ryzen 5 1600 to the Ryzen 5 2600 may have been incremental, AMD’s Zen 2 architecture makes the Ryzen 5 3600 a significant jump. By switching the CPU’s manufacturing process from a 12nm to a 7nm one, AMD is able to increase clock rates, increase IPC and enhance efficiency.

All of these advancements are made while maintaining the same 65W TDP as the Ryzen 5 2600. Increases in the RAM instantly accessible to the CPU cores aid in advancing performance. Similar to the Ryzen 5 3600X, AMD has increased the cache with 384KB of L1, 3MB of L2, and 32MB of L3.

Additionally, the Ryzen 5 3600 switches to the X570 chipset, which supports the newest PCIe 4.0 standard. For PCIe SSDs and AMD’s most recent Navi graphics cards, this provides a significant increase in bandwidth.

But since the Ryzen 5 3600 still supports the AM4 CPU socket, older motherboards are a possibility for computer users who don’t want the added capabilities of the X570 chipset. In other words, replacing a Ryzen 1000-series CPU in a PC will probably be as inexpensive and simple as just inserting the new processor—a motherboard upgrade is not required.

Performance Monitor

The Ryzen 5 3600 performs more modestly overall than previous Ryzen 3000-series processors, yet it still has enough juice to compete in certain areas with even the Intel Core i7-8700K. In terms of single- and multi-core performance, the Ryzen 5 3600 falls slightly short of the 3600X as expected, but its performance in our Handbrake test saw it come very close to matching the X model.

Nevertheless, it continues to do well. It competes head-to-head with the 6-core/12-thread Intel Core i7-8086K, outperforming it in the multi-core Cinebench R15 test and virtually matching it in single-core performance. In the single-core test of GeekBench 4, it performs behind the Core i7-8086K, but outperforms that processor in the multi-core test.

Efficiency is another appealing aspect of its performance. The Ryzen 5 3600 maintains a much lower level of power consumption under stress than the Intel Core i7-8086K and Core i7-8700K, which reached 110.68W and 100.63W, respectively, because to the switch to the 7nm technology. In contrast, the Ryzen 5 3600 drew just 86.17W from the power source throughout our tests.

Gaming is where the Ryzen 5 3600 truly proves its worth, with some outcomes even outperforming the big guys. On our test system, which has an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, Total War: Warhammer II ran at 1080p with the Ryzen 5 3600 managing a minimum frame rate of 78 and an average frame rate of 101.

These results easily outperform the more expensive, 8-core/12-thread Intel Core i9-9900K. Even its three siblings from higher levels can’t match it. In the same game at 4K, it lags behind its brothers but mostly maintains an advantage over the same three Intel CPUs.

Consumption Of Power

The entire system power usage numbers we measured while running the Blender benchmark are maybe even more astounding. As you can see, the quad-core Core i7-7700K and the i5-9600K both used about the same amount of power as the R5 3600.

You may be thinking that using a little bit more power than the 9600K isn’t all that great, but keep in mind that in this test, the 3600 was approximately 40% quicker than the Core i5 CPU. It is thus highly excellent in terms of power efficiency.

This is the main reason why the user wants to know about AMD Ryzen 5 3600X Review as he can predict what power this GPU is consuming.

During our one-hour Blender stress test with the Wraith Stealth fitted, the R5 3600 maintained a 4 GHz clock speed out of the box. Given that it was essentially quiet and that this was a severe stress test, having it peak at only 80 degrees is really impressive.

The box cooler can be used to allow PBO, but because you’re already close to the thermal limit, it won’t make much of a difference. In essence, we increased temperature by 4 degrees while gaining 25 MHz, therefore it goes without saying that we do not advise utilizing PBO with the box cooler.

Temperatures dramatically decreased once a good cooler was fitted. Although the Corsair Hydro H115i isn’t necessary, we utilized it since we wanted to do a direct comparison with the 3700X. Anyway, stock temperatures with the AIO liquid cooler added reduced to 62 degrees.
